Salar de Uyuni & Southwest Circuit, Bolivia

Salar de Uyuni is the world's largest salt flat (10,000 square kilometers). In the rainy season (December–March), a thin layer of water creates a mirror effect — the ground becomes indistinguishable from the sky. It's a landscape designed to break perspective.

The Southwest Circuit is a multi-day tour that combines the salt flat with colored lagoons (Laguna Cejar, Laguna Roja, Laguna Blanca), active volcanoes, and high-altitude desert. The landscape is genuinely alien — salt formations, mineral lakes, flamingos.

The cost is low (tours run $80–150/day for multi-day circuits). The experience is genuinely remarkable. The remoteness is genuine (you'll be hours from any cell service).

Salar de Uyuni mirror walk (rainy season): December–March, the flat becomes a mirror. Hire a 4x4 guide and driver. Shoot photos reflecting sky. Tours $80–120/day (usually 3 days).
